The N.C. Forest Service determined the cause of the fire was downed power lines with access gained from Lake Adger Road.

The N.C. Forest Service responded as well as fire departments from Sunny View, Mill Spring, Lake Lure and Green Hill, according to Brian Rogers, N.C. Forest Service’s Polk County Ranger.

Rogers said along with Polk County rangers, the forest service used a bulldozer, a scout plane, a helicopter and a hand crew from its bridge program to fight the fire.

There were three structures threatened during the fire.

Rogers said no damage occurred to any of the structures during the fire.
