Jamal Tanner’s 32 points led the Wolverines (3-2), who repaid the Cardinals for Landrum’s overtime win at Polk last Friday. The Cardinals’ Trevor Walker netted 31 points.

Jaron Bontrager (13), Anthony Carson (12) and Wes Mullis also paced the Wolverines. Jonah Corn added 23 for the Cardinals, while teammate Aaron Bryant scored 13.

The Cardinals are 2-1.

After three quarters on Tuesday the Cardinals led, 57-62, and would lead 76-69, with about four minutes to go, before Polk scored 12 consecutive points and kept the lead.

“Our effort on defense and rebounding was much better throughout the game than it was last Friday,” Polk Coach Josh McEntire said.

Polk hosted East Henderson last night, after press time, while the Cardinals visit Woodruff (SC) tonight, Thursday, Dec. 12.

Tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 13 Polk visits Madison. On Tuesday,  Dec. 17 Landrum hosts Powdersville (Greenville, S.C.).
