Spicing up Tryon Farmers Market

Rylee Barwell and Amelia Mesteca’s Fresh Tomato Salsa won the judges competition in the Tryon Farmers Market’s salsa competition held Thursday, July 25. Community members were encouraged to submit their favorite salsa recipe using ingredients from the market. The People’s Choice Award was Simple Tomatillo Salsa submitted by farmers market vendor Charlene Searcy. There were 10 entries in the competition overall ranging from traditional salsa with tomatoes, onions and peppers to unique blends with peaches and even blueberries.
