Red Fox Country Club and the Thermal Belt Community Tennis Association are sponsoring a Tennis Open House on April 27.
Red Fox’s recently appointed tennis pro, Jim Greene, will introduce his four refurbished Har-Tru tennis courts and the pro shop. The TBCTA has organized a fun day of tennis, food and entertainment for both existing and potential members.
Greene has had a lifelong passion for tennis. After a high school and college career, he received his teaching certification under Dennis Van der Meer and became a USPTR Pro in 1996. He coached both the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Newberry College and Spartanburg Methodist. Before coming to Red Fox, he was the teaching pro at the Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure. He now lives in Landrum with his wife, Rhett, and their three boys.
With the help of the TBCTA, Greene has planned a full afternoon of tennis. Starting at 3:30 p.m., players will have a meet and greet followed by a warm-up. From 4 until 4:45 p.m. he will offer an on court clinic to all interested players. At this time, there will also be a ball machine available for perfecting stokes. After the clinic, he will organize a round robin to be played from 5-6:30 p.m.
The Thermal Belt Community Tennis Association will then provide a barbeque dinner and entertainment provided by Doug Dacey and friends. Courts will remain open until dark.
Information concerning membership to Red Fox Tennis and to the TBCTA will be available all afternoon. For additional information about the Open House, please contact Jim Greene at 864-905-8224 or Darlene McFarland at 828-817-2737. Rain date is May 4.
