LMS Cardinals wrap up baseball season

The Landrum Middle School Cardinals wasted no time in cranking out five runs out of the Big Red Machine April 9 in the first inning and used some real good pitching in shutting out the Campobello Gramling Wildcats 5-0.

Ryan Johnson had a great game pitching, striking out six, picking up the win and Trey Jackson came in to get the save, striking out five Wildcat batters in two and two-thirds innings.

Trey Jackson, A.J. Raber, Jacob Murphy, Cole Steele and Alex Hawk had one hit each and scored one run apiece. Jacob Murphy was stellar behind the plate keeping the Wildcats stranded on the base paths, if he wasn’t throwing them out. Corey Ashmore and Cole Steele were awake on the corners at third and first getting dirty. The catch of the day was made in left field when Austin Farmer turned and ran down a deep fly to end the inning and strand the runner at third.
