Polk County High School played Avery High School Jan. 11. The varsity girls lost 37-46 and varsity boys won 68-60. The two top scorers for the varsity girls were Kara Overholt and Savannah Deaver. The two top scorers for the varsity boys were Alec Philpott and Anthony Carson. There was a special half time show given by the Polk County Recreation Deptartment The fifth and sixth grade boys from Tryon and Sunny View played a shortened game of basketball for fans.
