Landrums title run ends against Great Falls

On paper, with both teams having just one loss, the squads seemed similar enough. But considering the history of the Great Falls program, some may have viewed Landrum as an underdog going into the game. The Red Devils were seeking their 16th Upper State championship in the last 20 years.

Landrum wasn&squo;t intimidated, however, and took a one-point lead early in the third quarter.

But that was quickly followed by a&bsp; decisive 11-point run by Great Falls.

Down 36-27 at the start of the fourth quarter, The Cardinals cut the deficit to three late in the game, but the Red Devils were able to hold them off and move on.

Great Falls won the duel of All-State post players.

Landrum&squo;s leading scorer on the season, Alex Wilson, was held to just eight points by the tall, athletic Red Devil frontcourt.

GFHS power forward Torrey Craig, meanwhile, coming off a 28-point performance against H-K-T in the third round, posted 17 in the final quarter and finished with 26 points Saturday.

DeShaun Hall finished with 10 points on the game for the Cardinals, and Dustin Morris scored nine.

Landrum ends their 2008-2009 campaign with a record of 25-2.
