On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines wore down Avery County and it was noticeable on the court.

The Lady Wolverines beat the Lady Vikings 62-55 and the Lady Vikings were visibly frustrated by their inability to put the ball in the basket.

On the offensive end, Kiki Miller couldn&squo;t be stopped.

Whether her teammates fed her the ball inside or on the perimeter, there was nothing the lady Vikings could do to stop her.

The senior forward had 25 points and 13 rebounds on Friday night to lead the Lady Wolverines.

&dquo;She&squo;s back to using her power game,&dquo; Polk head coach Mitch Davis said.

And then there&squo;s the style of offense that&squo;s really helping Miller out. The Lady Wolverines play spread offense and the senior is using that to her advantage.

In isolation situations, she&squo;s hard to defend. Her ability to drive past the opposing post player and get to the basket become a staple in the Lady Wolverine offense.

But it wasn&squo;t just Miller on Friday night. There&squo;s the draining style of play incorporated by Davis. The five-in-five-out game plan grinds teams down, especially if they don&squo;t have a lot of depth.

On Friday night, Polk County played aggresively on both sides of the ball and especially on defense, Davis said.

&dquo;Our defensive intensity was about as good as we&squo;ve had all year,&dquo; he said.

Offensively, the big plays came from Kaitlin Franks and Miller.

Just before half, the Lady Wolverines were tied with Avery at 25. Polk, however, got some momentum as Franks hit a three&bsp; just before the trip to the lockerrooms.

Franks, who finished with 14, also hit a three with less than three minutes to go to give the Wolverines a two point lead.

Down the stretch, Miller rebounded a second free throw attempt by Denise Edwards and was fouled on the shot. She gave the Lady Wolverines a comfortable lead with two free throws.

&dquo;This good stretch has been about everyone playing and our defense applying a lot of pressure,&dquo; Davis said.

The Lady Wolverines don&squo;t play tonight, but will play at Owen on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
