St. Luke’s collecting items for flood victims

St. Luke’s Hospital teammates, board members, physicians and volunteers are thankful for sunshine again after a soggy few days of rain and gray skies! Polk County was lucky to be spared from the force of Hurricane Joaquin, but sadly, the rains have left parts of South Carolina under water. Many people have lost their homes and businesses. As massive cleanup efforts begin, St. Luke’s Hospital’s community of caregivers intends to help!

To assist flood victims in our neighboring state, St. Luke’s Hospital will serve as a “drop off” for items to be delivered to help families in the lower part of South Carolina. Donations of bottled water, non-perishable food, blankets, rubber boots and gloves, and cleaning supplies are especially needed.

These items can be dropped off at your convenience in the front lobby of St. Luke’s Hospital. Please call 894-0972 or 864-680-8511 and let us know if you have donated items so we can safely store these much-needed supplies until they are distributed.

It’s anticipated that our help will be needed for several weeks, so please support this effort as our community pulls together to help those suffering from yet another hurricane-related disaster. Many thanks to all for your concern and generosity.
