Marshall to receive Margaret L. Forbes Distinguished Scholar Award

The board of directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation, Inc., is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2015 Margaret L. Forbes Distinguished Scholar Award.  This $12,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to a Polk County High School student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, high academic achievement, a strong dedication to community service and participation in school clubs and extracurricular activities. The scholarship is awarded by the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation and is administered by the Polk County Community Foundation.

Price Marshall is an honor student at Polk County High. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been recognized as both an AP Scholar with Honors by the College Board as well as a QuestBridge Scholar. He achieved a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT, an accomplishment shared by only one-tenth of one percent of all test takers across the nation. He has served on the student council in the past as class president and student body vice president. He currently serves as an officer in Green Team.

Marshall has been a member of the high school band since eighth grade, serving as band captain for the past two years. He is also an active participant in the Tryon Little Theater, having been featured in numerous productions since middle school. Marshall plans to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. in the fall where he will pursue a career in music and/or medicine. Marshall lives with his mother, Kelly Marshall, in Tryon.
