Conference tournament games are often difficult.

Teams meet up for the third time after often having split games during the regular season. That was exactly the case as Polk and Avery went head to head last week.

Polk lost in the first game by 21 points and won the second with a buzzer beater just a few weeks ago. The Wolverines also were coming off a huge win over Hendersonville and had not played since.

But Polk came out fast going up 7-0 and built a 13 – 4 lead during the first quarter. Avery fought back and Polk went cold with the first quarter ending 15-13. The Wolverines struggled to get back on track and were outscored 23-15 in the second and third quarters. Down by 38-28 going into the fourth, Polk made a comeback scoring 16 points, but remained behind in the final minutes and was forced to press and foul in an attempt take the lead. Thus the 59-44 final score was not indicative of the closeness of the game.
