BIG grant enables kindergarteners to study van Gogh, Monet, Carle

Loretta Edwards, a kindergarten teacher from Polk Central Elementary, received a Be Inspired Grant (BIG) from the Tryon Fine Arts Center. This grant enabled kindergarten students at Polk Central Elementary School to participate in a study of three artists. Students worked hard to create pieces that mimic the art of Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Eric Carle. Students studied their life and career with art, as well as their influence on the art world.

On April 8, a Kindergarten Art Gala is planned to celebrate the artist study. Student artwork will be on display in the Media Center with the artist who created each piece there to share about it.

Thank you to the Tryon Fine Art Center and BIG Grant program for making all of this possible. Thank you to our art teacher, Lee Cantey, for helping with this study. The kindergarten students have learned so much and loved all the time spent creating art.
