Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard

The Tryon Concert Association will present mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard in the third concert of this season’s series, Saturday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Ms. Leonard is a Grammy award-winning vocalist who has been acclaimed for her “passionate intensity and remarkable vocal beauty.” She has appeared across the United States and internationally as a recitalist and in leading operatic roles.

In this country she has performed with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Maazel, the Boston Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic with Dudamel, the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood with Nelsons, to name a few.

Among her numerous awards Ms. Leonard received a Grammy Award to Thomas Ades’ “The Tempest” (Best Opera Recording) and was the recipient of the 2013 Richard Tucker Award. Earlier awards include a Marilyn Horne Foundation Award, the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation Award and a Movado Future Legends Award.
