After being sought for three days, murder suspect Kenneth Ray Moore, 37, was arrested at the Walmart in Greer on Thursday.
Moore was arrested in connection with the murder of his mother-in-law, Fay Fagan, 58, of Landrum, which occurred Tuesday in downtown Spartanburg, S.C.
Moore was recognized by a customer at Walmart Thursday who called police. The Greer Police Department initially arrested Moore on shoplifting charges, after they found Moore in the bathroom with stolen items, including clothing. Authorities say they fed Moore because he had not eaten in three days and had been roaming Spartanburg, then walked Hwy. 29 to Greer.
Investigators also say Moore did confess to killing his mother-in-law, saying he snapped following recent issues with his estranged wife, Denise Fagan. Moore recently made reports that Denise Fagan was poisoning him. There was also a recent fire at their home that is under investigation for arson.
Moore was scheduled to have a court hearing in Spartanburg on Friday.
The Walmart customer who recognized Moore and called authorities will receive a $3,000 reward that was being offered by Crimestoppers. The customer is remaining anonymous.
