Howard Greene of Tryon was named the Citizen of the Year at the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner and awards ceremony held Tuesday evening at the Stone Hedge Inn. Chamber president Andy Millard, seen congratulating Greene just after the announcement, said, “I venture to say, this gentleman would qualify not only for Citizen of the Year, but Citizen of the Decade and Citizen of the Century.” Patty Otto, owner of the Lake Lanier Tea House and the Hare & Hound Pub in Landrum, was named Business Person of the Year and Dave Herbert, chamber vice president and owner of Watson Flooring & Appliances in Columbus, was named the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year.
