Former Columbus mayor applies for planning board

The Town of Columbus received an application for its planning board recently from former Mayor Kathleen McMillian but decided to table the appointment to seek further applications.
The decision to table the appointment was approved by a 3-1 vote, with councilman Richard Hall voting against the motion.
Columbus has struggled with its planning board after deciding last year to split the one board into two, one planning and one zoning board of adjustments, and to make its former planning board the board of adjustment.
The town for the first couple of months could not get enough applications for a quorum on its subsequent planning board even though it was a smaller board. The board now has enough members and holds regular meetings.
McMillian applied to the planning board after being losing in last Novembers mayoral election.
Council members said they would continue to advertise nd revisit the appointment in February.
