Alice Feagan, a native of Columbus and 2002 graduate of Polk County High School, was recently announced as a finalist in an illustration competition for Strathmore Artist Papers.
Her submission (see artwork at right) was an illustration entitled “The Green Life.”
The competition asked artists “How do you see green?,” prompting submissions for individual perspectives on being “green.”
The four grand prize winners will have their artwork featured nationwide on one of four special edition Strathmore Premium Recycled pads. The public is asked to vote at www.strathmoreartist.com/green_contest.php in the professional/hobbyist category by Feb. 1.
Feagan works in the unique medium of cut paper, fusing different techniques. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2006, and continued her education at Savannah College of Art and Design to obtain her masters in illustration.
Currently residing in Eugene, Oregon, Feagan holds fast to her Western North Carolina roots by incorporating traditional folk art into her graphic style, as well as through a series of illustrations of different Polk County communities.
