Gabby Horvath and Ryan Mesa of Saluda reported that their shop, which opened in November of 2022, was broken into on either the night of Tuesday, May 23, or the morning of Wednesday, May 24.

The owners say that the decorative square panel at the base of the front door was kicked out, and entry was made through the opening. The perpetrator or perpetrators then located the cash drawer and emptied it. As of press time, nothing else in the store appears to have been taken.

Other than the damage to the front door and door frame, no other damage was reported. However, hundreds of dollars in cash was taken.

A Tryon Post Office worker found the break-in on Wednesday morning and alerted the police. Horvath and Mesa are still taking stock of inventory to make sure nothing else was stolen.

Back Alley Boutique and Bud Bar was closed the day after the break-in to assess the damage and to perform maintenance and cleaning.

Anyone with information related to the break-in is urged to contact the Tryon Police Department at (828) 859-9195.
