With the county’s first presumptive case of the Coronavirus being announced Thursday evening, now the county has a second case.
Polk County Manager Marche Pittman and county officials briefly announced the second case around 9:45 a.m. Friday.
The first case was announced Thursday evening, with county officials saying the patient is self-isolating at home. There is no information on the second case yet.
Due to privacy laws, county officials say they can not give any further information about the patients.
“We understand everyone is curious as to who has been confirmed with the virus. However, we cannot release further patient information due to confidentiality,” states the county’s social media post Friday morning. “Community members are reminded that they should be practicing good hand and respiratory hygiene, social distancing of at least 6ft, and they are encouraged to remain home and avoid any unnecessary travel.
