Bob Walker receives international award  

 GREENVILLE—Bob Walker is a long time resident of Landrum, joining the Landrum Lions Club in 1975. Walker served as the President of the Landrum Lions from 1976-1977 and has held the position as Secretary or Treasurer since 2000. Walker has maintained a 100% attendance since joining the Landrum Lions Club.  

Among some of his most prestigious positions and awards, Walker was named the South Carolina Lion of the Year in 1987, placed in the SC Lions Hall of Fame in 1990, Melvin Jones Fellow Award recipient, Franklin Mason Fellow Award recipient and placed into the Lions International Trading Pin Club Hall of Fame in 2009.  

Walker has received the Lions Clubs international President’s Award in 1986 and in 2000. Walker was named the Lion of the Year for the Landrum Lions Club on three separate occasions (1977, 1979, 2017). Walker has also been awarded the Lions Clubs International Senior Master Key for sponsoring 25 new members into the Landrum Lions.  

Early this May, Walker was awarded the most prestigious award available to a member of the Lions Club. Walker received the Ambassador of Good Will Award; only 40 of them are given worldwide on an annual basis. The International President of the Lions Clubs, Bjort Yngvadottir of Iceland, presented the award. The award is presented to Lions who have distinguished themselves in their commitment to service during their tenure in the Lions Club.  

Walker currently holds a position on the Spartanburg County Council as the District Five representative. Walker continues to be a vital asset to the Landrum community and to the local Lions Club.
