LABA makes changes 

 

LANDRUM—The Landrum Area Business Association (LABA) has discussed making several changes to the Taste of Landrum event scheduled for June 1. The event will coincide with the Music at the Tracks summer series that the City of Landrum puts on.  

The event was been moved from Rutherford to Trade Street, which both the City Council and Police Chief Ahler approved of. The move to Trade Street makes it easier for the Police to close the road and police the area.  

The City Council made several suggestions to the representatives of the LABA and planning committee for the Taste of Landrum events. The City Council asked that the Taste of Landrum event be planned in conjunction with the Music on the Tracks events in order to cut some of the expenses; paying for music, labor and other personnel expenses. The City Council also asked that the organizers can get ten restaurants to participate in the event in order to draw in more public interest. The City Council also suggested opening the event up to restaurants in the surrounding community, not just those located in the heart of Landrum. The City Council suggested that vendors that want to be in the Taste of Landrum event should have to pay a deposit or a holding fee that would prevent them from backing out of the event at the last minute.  

The Taste of Landrum committee along with the LABA will be meeting on Tuesday May 21 at the Landrum Fire Department to go over the Council’s suggestions and to plan the June event in greater detail.
