The ribbon cutting ceremony will occur at 1:30 p.m. at the new playground.

“We want to recognize and thank the Harry Dallara Foundation, Henson’s Mulch n More, Kathy Toomey with New View Realty and the town of Tryon, along with everyone in the community who came together to help get this project done,” said Fans of Harmon Field’s Lindy Buss. “We invite the entire community to join us and come and enjoy this great new asset to our town.”

The ribbon cutting will be held just prior to the 3rd annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza at Harmon Field Saturday.

The new playground was installed over the last few months with the most recent addition being a merry-go-round.

Harmon Field contributed $50,000 for the equipment from money it discovered last year was owed to Harmon Field from the town. The Fans of Harmon Field was granted $20,000 from the Dallara Project for the playground. Other money is coming from Fans of Harmon Field as well as the group agreeing to maintain the new playground, including needed mulch and upkeep.

The total bid for the new equipment was approved by the town at $70,207

The new playground includes slides and activities for both younger and older children, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant swings, ride-on equipment, benches and an ADA compliant merry-go-round.
