The vibrant colors and rhythms of African dance, the amazing harmony and percussion of nothing but the human voice, entertainment while you picnic on barbecue …  and every bit of it free for the whole family!

The Children’s Theater Festival (presenters of Super Saturday) and the Tryon Fine Arts Center are pleased to bring you the third annual “Super Sunday in September” on Sept. 25 at TFAC.

The collaborative event is funded by Free Community Events grants from the Polk County Community Foundation.

Headlining the entertainment at 4 p.m. in TFAC’s Peterson Amphitheater is the vocal band, Transit. Their close harmonies, soaring melodies and percussive beat all come from their own voices. Join us to see for yourself what they mean by “all band…no instruments!”

At 5 p.m. enjoy barbecue (while it lasts) prepared and served by the Culture Club at Polk County High School. Entertainment in the amphitheater will be provided while you eat.

And at 6 p.m., come inside TFAC for the colors and expressive movement of the African American Dance Ensemble.

Blending traditional African, contemporary African American, and modern dance repertoire, this group has been bringing the traditions of African culture, aesthetics, and values to life for more than 30 years.
