Ashley and Bram

Ashley and Bram

It’s been a hectic week or so and I seem to be battling it at all fronts. I finally got caught up with Josh at Dogwood Farms, who had been boarding Beauty for quite some time. There had been a fire at its owner’s home and I took on the boarding fee while the family got things right.

We neutered and fixed the eye of Winky, a sweet cat at Cloverfield. I don’t get out there to see Dr. Lara Boggs and the staff enough, what a great bunch.

We are currently trying to help Diesel, a black Poodle for Fay, a good friend and supporter. Tests are being sent off but things so far look good, fingers crossed.  I’m also trying to help a stray Pit Bull with black and white a patch, who is under the purview of my good friend Randy Grobe. Both these are being done at Bonnie Brae’s. The pit has worms, of course, but is heartworm negative. He is kind of tiny and extremely shy but we’ll make him whole again and I pray to find him a proper home.

I’m still working with Cain, the magnificent Pit who damaged his paw in the wrist area. He wasn’t healing properly at home so he is now at Landrum Vet where I will board him till he heals. It breaks my heart to see him in a cage though I know he’s getting enough attention. When I visit I tell him it’s for his own good, I hope he understands.

I was helping Karloff, a sweet English bulldog who came in with an extended abdomen and was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. I visited Karloff often and told him Uncle Lennie would see he got all he needed to make him better. One morning last week I went to check on Karloff and he seemed to be lying peacefully in his cage. Actually his stomach had perforated and he had bled out and passed away. I didn’t realize it at first and when I was told he was gone I went outside to weep.

“Lord, why do You put them in my hand if I can’t help?”

As for last week’s little guys, Roscoe’s family picked up their book A Voice In The Hills. The inscription was in honor of Roscoe.

Little Max the Havanese is staying home with his parents. I can’t express how sweet these people are, thanks to all who contacted me and showed interest.

Joey, the cute Maltese who was bitten by the brown recluse spider, is safe at home with his family in France. I’ve received a sweet email telling me so.

Bram, the 1½ year old Chihuahua, went to my dear friend Dr. Keith Allen at Upstate Veterinary Specialists. We learned that he most certainly was stuck by a car and the hip damage was extensive. I made the trip to pick Bram up with my good friend and strong supporter Chuck Davis. Chuck has two of Uncle Lennie’s cats but be that as it may, he couldn’t stop stroking Bram as he held him on his lap on the drive back to FHS. It had been a while since I’d seen my good friend Dr. Allen at UVS and he once again came through for Lennie’s Kids. Bram’s examination and his neutering was done for free, saving Lennie’s fund hundreds of dollars. Best of all, though, Bram will take 12 weeks of healing. He was put in the hands of the master and will heal just fine. I can’t express how grateful I am that God saw fit that I could meet this wonderful man.

For now, as you can see from the photo, that is Ashley (“Cutie”) holding him. Bram will not be short of love, care and attention. As for you folks out there someone better get their bid in for Bram before Danielle Scruggs finds out about him. We can’t have her hoarding all the injured Chihuahuas in the county.

I tried to tell a little of all that goes on with my kids this week because I often state there are many tales that aren’t told. As a matter of fact, there are two others I’m working on that I didn’t mention.

It is all of you who make this possible. So long as you are out there for me, I will be here for the kids.

God bless you all and thanks for listening.
