Seth Walker and his band take the stage at Rogers Park on Friday, August 7, for the fifth of six shows in the Summer Tracks’ 16th season. The show begins at 7 p.m. at Rogers Park.

A special treat for the Summer Tracks’ fans, Seth Walker is one of the most revered modern roots artists in the United States. His rich, Gospel-drenched, Southern-inflected voice coupled with his knack for getting around on the guitar are known for making audiences stand up, dance, swoon a little, and then clap for more. The son of classically trained musicians, Seth grew up in North Carolina but has lived in Austin, Nashville and now New Orleans, soaking up the sounds and absorbing the musical linage of these hallowed Southern music cities.

Sky Still Blue”, Seth’s latest studio album, was produced by Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers and has been hailed as a masterwork. In all, Seth has released seven albums between 1997 and 2013; breaking into the Top 20 of the Americana charts and receiving praise from NPR, “American Songwriter”, “No Depression” and “Blues Revue”, among others.  Seth consistently tours and has opened for The Mavericks, The Wood Brothers, Raul Malo, Paul Thorn, and Ruthie Foster, among others. Tonight’s show features Myles Weeks on bass, Erick Bolivar on drums and Charlie Dennard on keys.

Each summer, Summer Tracks attracts more than 2,000 people to Tryon’s Rogers Park, drawing visitors from all over Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

As with all Summer Tracks concerts, the show is free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with the generous sponsorships of local businesses and individuals make these shows possible. Manna Cabana’s delicious fresh food, O’Duggan’s ice cream, water and soft drinks will be for sale.

Summer Tracks is produced by the Town of Tryon in affiliation with Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions. For more information about Summer Tracks and the performers visit summertracks.com.
