Officials planning Columbus’ 2014 Veterans Day parade have announced that country singing artist McKayla Reece will perform during the Memorial Service which follows the Nov. 11 parade. Miss Reece has lived in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina since birth and began her musical career at an early age singing for her family, at school and at local venues.

Her voice has reached out to neighboring cities and states where audiences have quickly recognized and appreciated her musical ability. At the age of nine, Miss Reece became a spokesperson for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and today continues her commitment and dedication to veterans everywhere and in particular to the DAV.

The Veterans Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in downtown Columbus, N.C. The Memorial Service will follow shortly after the parade and will take place at the Veterans Memorial Park in Columbus. The public and especially veterans are invited to both events.
