Tryon issues notices during/after snow storm

The Tryon Police Department issued a few notices to the public through its Nixle account regarding icy roads and delays in the opening of town hall.

The first Nixle message was sent at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 encouraging residents not to travel because of icy roads.

“Tryon Street Department reports very icy roads in town,” stated the message Tuesday. “Scraping and sanding not helping much. Motorists encouraged not to be out tonight.”

Another message was sent around 3:30 Wednesday, Jan. 29 saying because of icy conditions, Jervey Road is closed until further notice. Jervey Road was reopened on Thursday, Jan. 30 with another notice saying the road “is thawing and sand is in place – use caution as road is still icy in spots.”

Messages were also sent on Wednesday regarding town hall’s opening times. Town hall opened at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and was scheduled to open on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m.
