John Franklin Crew II

John Franklin Crew II, 66, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at his home in Mill Spring.

Born March 1, 1947 in Lansing, Mich., he was the son of the late John and Marian Lively Crew. John was a Marine, serving in Vietnam.

He was decorated with two purple hearts and awarded a silver star. He was a mechanic with Durham’s Automotive Service for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Amy J. Crew; two daughters, Shawn Crew of San Diego, California and Caitlin M. Crew of Mill Spring; as well as two grandchildren, Saxon and Brooklyn. Also surviving are his brother, Richard Crew of Asheville, N.C. and his sister, Molly Crew Lamoreaux of Heartland, Mich.; along with several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of John’s life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2013 at the Harmon Field log cabin, Tryon.
