Emergency rabies clinic Saturday

Polk County Animal Control will host an Emergency Rabies Clinic Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Green Creek Fire Department.

The clinic will run from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Cats and dogs can get rabies shots for $8; goats, sheep, cows and horses can get their rabies shots for $16. Parvo and Distemper shots will also be available for $12.

The clinic is being held in response to three wild animals – two skunks and a fox – being suspected of having rabies in the area.

A rabid fox bit a Green Creek man on the leg three times at the man’s Green Creek farm Friday, Nov. 2.

The other rabid animals found were both skunks. The first rabid skunk attacked farm animals off Hwy. 108 in Mill Spring and was captured on Sept. 4. The second skunk attacked a cat and killed kittens in Pea Ridge on Sept. 7.
