Tryon Country Club held its annual July 4th golf tournament and lunch under sunny and hot conditions. The format was an Individual Low Net event, with closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3’s. The results were as listed below:

1st place – Dale Musselwhite – 31

2nd place – Lisa Bjerring – 32

3rd place – Dave Gunter – 34

4th place – (Tie) – Steve Warren, Pete Bhakta, and Lee Plumblee – all with 35s

7th place – (Tie) – Charles McKeller, Lance Plumblee, and Ann Gargiulo – all with 36s

Closest-to-the-pin winners:

#3 – Nancy Hiley – 1’ 8”

#8 – Brad Rakow – 5’ 1”

The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Red-White-Blue” format on July 8, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on the par 3’s. It was an Individual event for the 33 players, and there were some very good scores. The results are listed below:

1st place – Mike Sullivan – 32

2nd place – Vic Ketchman – 33

3rd place – Richard Barraud – 34

4th place – Jerry Pospisil – 35

Lost playoff for 4th place – Brad Rakow, Tom Murdoch, Keith Beaver – all with 35s

Closest-to-the-pin on #8 – Roger Dehnel – 8’ 11”
