Lake Lure Classical Academy junior Dazirus Watkins was recently named as a recipient of the prestigious Dr. Carter G. Woodson Scholars Award by Berea College, which honors outstanding high school juniors who embody Dr. Woodson’s spirit in the areas of academic achievement, civic engagement and community service. 

This award comes with Berea’s tuition promise scholarship, valued at over $190,000, should Dazirus choose to attend Berea College upon completion of his high school career. 

Dazirus is the son of Ms. Ciera Camp of Rutherfordton.
