Looking for a new furry friend? Adopt a dog for free at Foothills Humane Society during May

POLK COUNTY—During the month of May, Foothills Humane Society in Columbus is offering free adoption of dogs and puppies older than six months, giving folks the chance to take home their new best friend at no cost. All dogs are spayed or neutered, have their vaccinations and are microchipped. 

The shelter is overflowing with wonderful dogs of every breed, size, age, and personality. 

Adopting a dog has never been easier. Simply visit the website at foothillshumanesociety.org, click on Adoptable Dogs, and you’ll be directed to their page on Petfinder.com. Here, you can browse through photos and information on the dogs. Fill out an online application or call the shelter at 828-863-4444 to schedule an appointment to meet them.

If you already have a dog, you can arrange a ‘Meet and Greet’ to ensure a harmonious match. The FHS staff has made the process as convenient as possible so anyone interested in adopting can focus on finding their new furry friend. 

Foothills Humane Society is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If a puppy younger than six months is preferred, the adoption fee is only $100.

The shelter is located at 989 Little Mountain Rd. in Columbus.
