SALUDA—In May of 2020, the Saluda Visitor Center was established. The center evolved from a small, unmanned building near I-26 to a centralized and viable part of downtown Saluda located on Main Street in Saluda Station.

Saluda resident Lynn Casey assumed the daunting job of Visitor Center directorship, overcoming many hurdles, including the COVID-19 pandemic. She organized and trained a strong volunteer base to run the Visitor Center, and over the past four years, the Saluda Visitor Center has become an important supporter for all the businesses located downtown and businesses and tourist sites in Polk County and surrounding areas.

As of June 2024, Lynn will step down as Director to assume other civic duties.  The new Director, Misty Davis, will assume the role on June 1.  Misty, a four-year resident of Saluda, relocated here in 2020 after teaching in Kuwait.  She and her husband, Brian, reside on the Green River with their dog, Maggie.  Misty eagerly anticipates her new role as the Visitor Center Director and is enthusiastic about getting to know the volunteers and the town of Saluda.

Since its inception, the Saluda Visitor Center, has been supported by the Saluda Downtown Foundation, the Saluda Business Association, and the Saluda Tourism Development Authority.  As of June 1, the Saluda Tourism Development Authority will assume full financial and administrative responsibility for the operation of the Visitor Center.

The Saluda Visitor Center is open every day from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and provides restroom facilities, free maps, brochures, and visitor information.
