Polk County’s season came to an end Wednesday as defending state champion Elkin handed the Wolverines a 5-0 setback in the second round of the state 1A boys tennis playoffs.
The Wolverines ended their season with a 5-7 record. Elkin (16-1) moves on to the state quarterfinals.
With 32 teams in the 1A playoffs, Polk’s win on Monday at Gray Stone Day means the Wolverines finish among the state’s top 16 teams in 1A.
