TRYON—Empowering Through Beauty, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of women and children, hosted a free tennis lesson for children at Harmon Field on Saturday, April 27. The session aimed to introduce young individuals to the sport of tennis and encourage physical activity, skill development, and overall well-being.

During the organization’s March mentoring session, a young girl expressed a strong interest in learning tennis and requested that founder Tanisha Twitty Akinloye’s husband Charles provide lessons. Tanisha assured the young girl that if Charles couldn’t make it, she would find someone else to teach her.

True to her word, Tanisha enlisted the help of two experienced coaches, Storme Smith and his father Bill, who dedicated their time to teaching tennis to five eager children.

The tennis lesson was met with great enthusiasm from both the children and their parents, leading to numerous requests for additional tennis lessons. Empowering Through Beauty, Inc. is now actively seeking tennis players and coaches to join its efforts in expanding its tennis program and continuing to provide valuable opportunities for children to learn and engage in the sport.

If you have a passion for tennis and a desire to empower youth through sports, consider volunteering your time and expertise. To get involved or learn more about how you can contribute to this initiative, please contact Tanisha at info@etbeauty.org.
