The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Best Ball of Foursome” and had closest-to-the-pin contests on both par threes on Monday, April 15. The weather was perfect and the golf course was in great condition. There were nine foursomes competing for the win. The results were as follows:

 

1st place – Jerry Pospisil, Jerry Perry, Bill McCall, Dennis Sakos – 28

2nd place – Tommy Richardson, Jack Saunders, Mike Sullivan, John Schickling – 29

3rd place – Charles Enicks, Roger Dehnel, Ed Weatherby, (BP) Jim Shirley – 31

4th place – Keith Beaver, Dennis Felker, Sam Roden, Simon Turnnidge – 32

 

Closest-to-the-pin winners:

#3 – Forward Tees – Jerry Perry – 13’; 6”

#8 – B/G Tees – Hub Arledge – 12’ 11”

#8 – Forward Tees – Bill Basye – 14’ 3”

 

On Tuesday, the Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a 2 Best Balls Of 4 format, as well as closest-to-the-pin and Low-Putts contests. The weather was perfect, the course was in great condition, and the scores were low. The results were as follows:

 

1st place – Patty Aldred, Becky Kennedy, Anne Connolly, (BP) Ann Gargiulo – 60

2nd place – Caroline Brown, Mary Lou Diekmann, Ann Gargiulo, (BP) Anne Connolly – 62

3rd place – Nancy Mahler, Faith Weathington, Peggy Henson, Nancy Hiley

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – Caroline Brown – 23’ 6”

 

Low Putts:
