Drew Yelton may be the top pitcher in the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference. He certainly made a case for that Wednesday evening.

The College of Charleston-bound senior held Polk County hitless, striking out 12 in leading R-S Central to a 10-0 win over the Wolverines in Rutherfordton.

Yelton walked two in his six innings of work. He retired the final 11 batters in order to complete his gem.

The Hilltoppers improved to 14-0 overall, 5-0 in conference play in getting their third shutout in the past six games.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again Friday at The Bottoms, with junior varsity play beginning at 4 p.m. and varsity action following.
