SOCCER: Polk blanks Highlands, falls at A.C. Reynolds to end pre-break slate

Polk County extended its shutout streak to four straight matches on Wednesday before losing on the road on Thursday.

The Wolverines trekked to Highlands and claimed a 2-0 win before falling to area power A.C. Reynolds 5-0 in a pair of non-conference matches. The results leave Polk County with a 4-2-3 record entering spring vacation.

Maggie McCammon had nine saves and Maggie Johnson added six saves in Wednesday’s shutout win. Polk County ticked the scoreboard with goals by Jessica Baird and Hayden Blackwell, those assisted by Caroline Taylor and Gabby Savaia.

A.C. Reynolds (9-2) built a 3-0 halftime lead and kept Polk County in check in Thursday’s loss. Christina Diavatis and Evva Hamilton each scored two goals for the Rockets.

Polk County will return to action following its break on April 9, traveling to East Rutherford.
