The pavilion is now officially known as the Joe Cunningham Jr. Market Pavilion.

Cunningham, who passed away on July 12, 2023, was one of the founders of the Landrum Farmers Market.

For many years, local farmers sold and traded goods at a location on North Trade Avenue, and Cunningham dreamed of constructing a permanent building for the vendors. The City of Landrum opened a new pavilion in 2022 that now serves as the permanent home for the Farmers Market.

The city recently announced in a social media post that the sign had been placed at the facility, forever memorializing Cunningham’s contributions.

“Mr. Cunningham’s memory will live on in our hearts every time we step through the doors of the Joe Cunningham Jr. Market Pavilion,” the post reads.

The Joe Cunningham Jr. Market Pavilion contributes to Landrum and the surrounding area’s agricultural and economic development and enhances community engagement while providing visitor appeal to Landrum, the city says.

The facility is located at 221 West Rutherford Road. To learn more, visit landrumfarmersmarket.com.
