Dear Aunty Pam,

 

I am a 66-year-old woman who has always had light brown hair. I’ve been coloring it the last ten years but now have decided to let it go gray/silver. The gray accentuates my blue eyes and lightens my complexion, at least that’s what my friends say, and I tend to agree.

My husband, however, hates it. He says it makes me look 76 and he doesn’t like waking up next to an “old woman.”

Thoughts?

Sure. I have lots of thoughts, but most are unprintable.

It might be that your husband isn’t comfortable with his own aging, and seeing you go natural reminds him of that. Regardless, his comments to you are unkind and border on cruel. And who needs that? If he doesn’t want to wake up to “an old woman,” suggest he then sleep on the couch.
