Tryon Seventh-Day Adventist Church to feature “The Trumpet Shall Sound”

Tryon Seventh-Day Adventist Church is inviting the community to attend the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Saturday, March 30. The special music will be a selection from Handel’s Messiah, “The Trumpet Shall Sound.”

The bass soloist Richard Cagle majored in music with a concentration in voice at Appalachian State University and received a master’s degree at Northern Arizona University. He has taught music for over 30 years and has sung solos at major sporting events, churches, recording studios, and on TV. Currently, he teaches music at Bruce Drysdale Elementary School in Hendersonville.

Cody Beard is a professional trumpet educator and performer native to upstate South Carolina. He regularly performs with the Aiken Symphony Orchestra and the Spartanburg Philharmonic. He has also performed with the Greenville, Charleston, and Rock Hill Symphonies and with early music ensembles such as the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra and Mallarme Music on a replica 17th-century Natural trumpet. As an educator, Cody is the head trumpet instructor with the largest online trumpet education company, Trumpet Mastery.

Stacy Wiley, violin, received a Bachelor of Music from the University of SC. She maintains a private violin studio and plays in concerts, in local churches, colleges, and orchestras throughout the year. 

Carolyn Tackett is a violinist currently living in Hendersonville. Having grown up in the Florida West Coast Youth Symphony program in Sarasota, she has always played in her hometown symphony, her weekly church services, and various local engagements. Carolyn is a registered violin teacher with over 30 years of experience.

Sheryl McDonald, violin, is a retired orchestra music teacher living in Rising Fawn, Ga. She received a music degree from Pacific Union College in Napa Valley, Calif.

Kathleen Foster, cellist, teaches cello at Converse College in SC and lives in Green Creek.

Organizers look forward to the event and hope to see community members come to enjoy the special performance.
