At the meeting, Isothermal Community College President Margaret Annunziata appeared before the board to ask for a resolution to recognize April 2024 as Isothermal Community College Month.

“Since I’ve been here, I have always felt welcomed and a part of the work that we’re doing to support the community here in our county, and I’m grateful for that,” Annunziata told the board.

Annunziata explained that in 1985, then-President Ronald Reagan designated April National Community College Month. “I request that you also identify April 2024 as Isothermal Community College Month in Polk County,” she said.

“In addition, we’re holding an event on April 20 for community members to come and engage with Isothermal Community College,” Annunziata said. “It’s an introduction to all members of the community and to especially emphasize the opportunities that exist for all members and residents of Polk County to engage with Isothermal Community Colleges.”

‘Paint the Community Isothermal Blue Day’ is a free event and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Spindale campus located at 286 ICC Loop Road. The event will kick off with a children’s science presentation at the campus’s Performing Arts Center.

“I will continue to commit my efforts,” Annunziata told the board. “Thank you for your support.”

The motion to declare April Isothermal Community College Month was passed unanimously.
