Polk bass teams have successful day in Lake Russell tourney

The Polk County High School Bass Team had another solid showing in the recent Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail tournament at Lake Russell on the border of South Carolina and Georgia.

Competing in a field of more than 100 entrants, Polk’s team of Banks Barber and Aaron Morrison finished ninth overall, their second top-10 finish in three events this season. The duo landed five fish with a total weight of 12.55 pounds.

The Wolverine team of Tanner Osborn and Piercen Edwards finished 56nd, catching three fish for a total weight of 5.25 pounds. Polk’s duo of Karsyn Huskey and Konnor Huskey finished tied for 93rd.

Crescent (S.C.) High School’s team of Russell Whitfield and Joshua McGuffin won the event with five fish weighing in at 14.58 pounds.

Polk County’s teams will return to the water on March 16, competing at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.
