Harden earns medalist honors in Wolverines’ season debut

Avery Harden fired a 37 Thursday to claim medalist honors as Polk County’s golf team opened its 2024 season at Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby.

Harden’s effort topped Cherryville’s Tyler Stroupe by one stroke and helped the Wolverines take third in the four-team event.

Cherryville’s 164 paced the field, with West Lincoln recording a 177. Polk had a team score of 193, just ahead of Owen’s 194.

Tourin Jackson fired a 48 for Polk, with Turner Loveland adding a 52 and Piercen Edwards posting a 56 to complete the team scoring for the Wolverines.

Myles Menetre added a 57, with David Duffy carding a 62.

Polk County is next set to tee it up on Tuesday, hosting a nine-hole dual match at Tryon Country Club.
