Fundraiser for John Vining planned for March 30

COLUMBUS—A fundraiser for well-known local resident John Vining is planned for March 30 at Polk County High School.

The fundraiser will include lunch plates as well as the Polk County High School FFA selling plants in the school greenhouse.

Vining, known for his many years of service as Polk County Extension Director for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, is currently battling liver cancer.

The fundraiser will run March 30 from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Lunch plates are $10 and either chicken or pork plates will be available.

Anyone interested in donating to the fundraiser can do so in person at either of the HomeTrust Bank locations in Tryon and Columbus or via mail to Polk County High School, Attn. Chauncey Barber, 1681 E. NC 108 Highway, Columbus NC 28722.
