Started in Columbus in 1974 by the late David Jackson, Jackson’s Wrecker Service quickly became the top wrecker service in the local area by developing great relationships with the community and efficiently servicing those who needed roadside help.

After the passing of David Jackson in 2021, his brother, Donald Jackson took the reins of the company and continues the legacy and traditions that the wrecker service is known for to this day.

“To be able to carry on what David worked his tail off for means the world to me and my family,” said Donald on Thursday. “Not only did he work hard but he built relationships within the community like no other.”

In addition to expert service of towing and roadside assistance, the company also offers short-term storage options, is available 24 hours a day and is a proud member of the National Federation of Independent Business.

Jackson’s Wrecker Service also takes pride in the many sponsorships it offers to sports organizations in both Polk County and Landrum. Jackson’s has sponsored many baseball teams, soccer teams, cheerleading squads and more.

As the popular towing service shows no signs of slowing down in its fiftieth year, owner Donald Jackson, Manager Brent Jackson and other employees of Jackson’s Wrecker Service look forward to celebrating with the community by offering giveaways which include hats, sweatshirts and water bottles. They are also planning a customer appreciation party set to take place at the beginning of the summer complete with food, beverages and a live band.

“We meet by accident,” says Brent Jackson, referencing a slogan that David Jackson put on the company’s tow trucks before his passing. “The community has been a blessing to our business and I hope that we can serve them for another fifty years.”

Jackson’s Wrecker Service is located at 585 E. Mills St. in Columbus. They can be reached at (828) 894-8324.
