Students at Polk County Middle School recently completed the Reality of Money simulation with State Employees Credit Union workers.
In this program, students each were assigned an occupation and income, education level, credit score and number of family members. Students had to work their way around stations, making financial decisions regarding their housing, transportation, health insurance, food and clothing, and various other real life costs.
By the end of this simulation, students were able to recognize the importance of budgeting money as well as recognizing the difference between needs and wants.
