Columbus— Martha Kerr Brinson, passed away on January 9, 2024 at the age of 103.  She was born on the family farm in Iredell County, North Caroling on November 30, 1920.   She married Lewis Brinson and they moved to Daytona Beach, Florida where they raised their two children, Delores, and David.  While living in Daytona Beach, Martha was very active in the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school.  She was an excellent artist and seamstress and worked as a bridal assistant doing alterations. She and Lewis enjoyed traveling extensively through Europe and the United States.

After retiring, she and Lewis moved to Columbus, North Carolina where she pursued her love of gardening and sharing her plants from their beautiful gardens.  She volunteered for several years at Second Chance thrift store in Columbus.  Martha is loved and remembered for her knowledge of plants, natural remedies for health and well-being and her strong faith in God.

She was pre-deceased by her husband in 2009, her parents, Lender Deaton Kerr and Martha Belk Kerr, and eight brothers, and four sisters.  Martha is survived by her two children Delores and David Brinson, daughter-in-law Anita Brinson, her two grandchildren Robin and Duke Bell and four great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister, Mildred Kerr Helms, sisters-in-law Betty Kerr and Nancy Kerr, and fourteen nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice or Foothills Humane Society.
