PCVC teams kick off season at SAVL Icebreaker

Polk County Volleyball Club opened its ninth season of competition Saturday and Sunday at the Southeast Alliance Volleyball Club Icebreaker in Spartanburg.

PCVC is fielding five teams this season, and PCVC 14U led the way at the Icebreaker, finishing 4-1 and taking top honors in the Silver bracket.

PCVC 14U’s only loss came to tournament runner-up Stars 14 Lora during pool play. The team defeated East Denver Volleyball Club 14U Travel Plus 19-25, 25-17, 15-12 in the Silver championship match.

PCVC’s 13U team placed third overall, finishing 3-3. Two of those three losses came to tournament runner-up Mountain Elite Volleyball Club 13 Black of Brevard.

PCVC’s 16U squad finished 2-3, that effort including a marathon 25-22, 31-29 loss to Biltmore Volleyball Academy 16 Elite.

(Side note: BVA 17 Elite, which includes Polk County’s Mia Bradley, went undefeated and took top honors at the Winterfest at The Rock tourney in Gatlinburg, Tenn.)

PCVC 15U competed in the 15/16 Select bracket and went 1-4 during the weekend while PCVC 12U made its debut and went 0-5, but gained valuable experience throughout the weekend.
