The North Carolina Department of Transportation was called by the fire department requesting a backhoe to remove the fallen trees and debris from the road.

“We got the call around 7:30, maybe,” said NCDOT supervisor Dwayne Johnson.

“Three or four trees have fallen across the road. We got the call from the fire department. They requested the machine,” said NCDOT worker John Mathis. “So we got a machine on the way now, just to push it out of the road.”

As of 9:30 a.m., Harmon Field Road was cleared and reopened.
